Embryo Transfer

It’s been quite a while since our last blog post. Let’s recap on what has been happening with our IVF journey.

Prepping for Embryo Transfer

There are a lot of medicines involved in this part of the process. This part was kicked off by taking Estrodiol with Aspirin

7 days leading up to transfer date, progesterone injection was started. Michael has been such a big help and very precise about everything. Also, Michael‘s hands are exceptionally great for giving injection.

4 days leading up to transfer, Medrol was supposed to be taken BUT we misread the instructions and totally skipped it. We realized the day before transfer that we made a mistake 😭 Devastated was an understatement at that point. Well, lessons learned is to read the instructions carefully, no matter how confusing they are 😂 Luckily, Medrol isn’t the crucial contribution to the transfer and the doctor reassured that. We came back home and started taking Medrol that night.

1 day before the transfer, we went to the doctor’s office for blood work. No ultrasound this time. The goal was to see if progesterone and estrogen levels are saying Moni is ready to go the next day.

The Transfer

It was emotional waking up to that reality in the morning for both of us. Mona Vie had no clue 😂 But we asked her if she wants a brother or a sister…her answer was both!

Moni took Valium and Feldene at 10:30 am. These two medicines are known to help with relaxing during the procedure.

We arrived to the doctor’s office at 11 am with full bladder and our nurse escorted us to the same room where eggs retrieval procedure happened. This time Michael got to go in with Moni🎉

The Embryologist came by and talked to us about the embryo and scoring method one more time. She also gave us a picture of the embryo that was already thawed. This is so special ❤️

Our doctor came in and then began the transfer procedure. We were able to see when it all happened, probably won’t go into details about it. Moni grabbed Michael’s hand, probably an entire arm, to hang on tight during the transfer. It was amazing to see the little tube with an embryo and how the embryo traveled to the uterus.

The procedure took only about 10 minutes. We had a successful embryo transfer procedure. Moni chose to stay in bed for 10 more minutes with her full bladder. It was painful but doable.

Now, We Wait…

Moni will continue to take all the medicines, except Valium and Feldene.

We will wait for 11 more days for blood work (Pregnancy test). The next 11 days will be long but we will make it fun ☺️

We are hoping to keep whatever comes next to ourselves and our immediate family members. Thus, we will pause (just a pause) on publishing our blog post after this one. But don’t worry we will come back.

Until then, stay safe and enjoy the holidays!
